Street outreach is a vital part of the homeless response system. Outreach connects people who are living unsheltered with resources, housing opportunities, and medical care. So street outreach saves lives. But it can’t really move the needle on ending homelessness unless it’s part of a systemic, coordinated, housing-focused effort. This course outlines specific actions leaders and outreach staff (or anyone who would like to work in outreach) can take to integrate street outreach effectively into a systemic homeless response. Anyone enrolled in any Center for Learning course is invited to a live online office hour every month. Some office hours are opportunities to ask questions about material in our courses; others focus on emerging issues or specific populations. We offer a variety of discounts: see our FAQ page. Homelessness doesn’t impact everyone equally. Some communities are more likely to experience homelessness due to systemic and ongoing racism, discrimination, and disinvestment. But there’s something we can do about it. This course is designed for anyone in homeless response and will focus on action steps to address racial disparities in your community. This is the third and final course in our Race Equity Learning Series: you can enroll in all three courses at once by finding the three-course bundle on our store at https://learning.endhomelessness.org, or you can take the courses individually.  Anyone enrolled in any Center for Learning course is invited to a live online office hour every month.
